A bit of warning about the “plant rich” advice though…We are plenty that have become BADLY hurt by a plantbased diet. There's also lots of plant toxins in them that have detrimental effects on the body and brain. Oxalates being the worst of the worst. There's way too much oxalates in chard, spinach, beets, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes, cacao, kiwis, raspberries and so on so forth. You should do an interview with oxalate expert Sally K Norton, it will be eye opening! She has a website and Instagram with lots of information. Also lots of interviews with her on YouTube. I'm not saying you need to be worried about and exclude all plants but everyone have to be informed about what a high oxalate diet does to the body and brain. Thanks! Best regards!🌺

    • Jamie December 2, 2022 at 10:38 am - Reply

Oxalates are degraded in the intestines by “oxalobacter formigenes,” so it shouldn’t be a problem for people with microbiome health…the best way to increase oxalobacter is to feed it: what? Oxalates.

Very interesting lecture. I am a 75 year old retired teacher and have so far no signs of irregular decline. But I have a diagnose of Alzheimers in late years from My Heritage. I was adopted as a small child and I do not know much about my forefathers. So I tried My Heritage. It turned out I have genes for Altzheimers . As I uderstood from Dr. Dale Bredesens lecture the only thing I can do is to stay healthy as long as possible. I can`t escape this terrible disease.
I have two children and four grandchildren. Would you advise them to get tested and start preventing as early as the age of 45? They are 42 and 38 years old.

    • Roger December 3, 2022 at 5:25 pm - Reply

I dont think Dr Bredesen is saying anything is inevitable. The saying is the genes load the gun but the environment pulls the trigger. You can live such that your environment never pulls the trigger.

Can you help with something that seems abnormally different. My husband was 23 when we married. He is 65 now. He left me last year. He had all the way through forgotten our discussions about things we planned to do on our properties. When I would question him on why he was doing it all different to our plans he would get mad at me for telling him he was doing things wrong and he would have no recollection of us having had a discussion about it. He struggles to remember his appointments even though he remembers amazing details about cars. I'm in New Zealand and don't know what sort of help to look for

At 58, having a mother who died within 3 years of being diagnosed with Alzheimer's, an Uncle who died of Picks disease, and I had a full hysterectomy around 10yrs ago (I think as I don't remember when exactly), I see myself headed down the vary same path as her. My diet is terrible, I'm prediabetic, and with hormones all out of wack how do I find these great Dr.s that don't want to give me all kinds of prescriptions that can help me find me and run the tests that I need?? I'm excited to listen to this series and learn all I can. Thank you!!

Dr Bredesen has a protocol to follow via an annual subscription. You can access the details at Apollo Health – apollohealthco.com. You can engage and get started through the website. I did the protocol several years ago and it helped me. I still follow it, but had to become less strict with the carb reduction because I lost too much weight so i need to review my options , which is why I enjoyed these videos and will do further follow up with what was shared.

      Best Wishes,

So interested in this. My father passed this year from vascular dementia and my mother is living in memory care with frontal lobe dementia. I so, so wish I would have seen this 10 – 15 years ago. My mother was a coca cola addict for years and my sister and I truly believe this was a primary factor in the dementia. Such a sad disease and I definitely don't want to go down this road!! Thank you so much for the information!!

Thank You so much for a wonderful program. I have used NeuroQ by Dr Bredesen and I love it. It really helps you to focus , pay attension and take interest in life and so many other benefits. But I do get bruises under my skin on my hands. I realize that NeuroQ has blood thiner in it. I am just scared that just as blood comes out of my veins on my hands and make bruises under my skin, what if this happens somewhere else like my brain or anywhere else. I really have bad coughs and I get scared the presure on my head with the blood thiner in NeuroQ can cause me problem.
My dad has Demensia ,I gave him NeuroQ , he did a lot better, but he got big bleeding on his hands under his skin. Also when he was blowing his nose, he had clear drops of blood on the floor from his nose. Something which never happenes to him. I had to stop the NeuroQ for him. I was so sad, as I loved it when he took it. Of couse he has low blood plaque number.
Could you please let me know the blood thinner in Neuro Q could not possibly cause stroke or any other majour bleeding in the body. Thank you very much for your time.

    Mahnaz Brzegar

    • micheline December 4, 2022 at 12:25 am - Reply

I don't think the ingredients in NeuroQ would cause any bleeding problems for the average person unless one is taking a blood thinning medication; check with your doctor.

Suffice it to say, I am not willing to die like my grandfather, father and siblings. How do I get into one of these group tests?

    • Gail December 3, 2022 at 11:45 pm - Reply

Charlie, for encouragement and literal instruction on how to do the protocol for ApoE4, go to the information forum (apoE4.info). Share your short story and ask if there's someone who can point you to the first steps to take to get started. In the book called, “First Survovors of Alzheimers”, there's a chapter on Julie…in her story, she tells so many of the steps she took to turn Alzheimer's around. Take ACTION, Charlie, with what you read and are told…and have hope!!!lllllllllllllllll

I'm female, 81 yrs old, and my once ‘steel-trap' mind is on an extended hiatus, how do I find out if I have a way back to being me?

I was the youngest of 7 living children, and everyone is gone but me. There may be cousins or nieces and nephews but I don't know them or where they are anymore. I feel very much ‘alone'. I have two sons, and 4 granddaughters. I have two granddaughters in their late 30's and two granddaughters in grade school.

I wonder if I could go back on the bio-identical hormones safely now and is there a reliable article that I could read about it. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your clear explanations. I am male, 80, Dutch.

I xperience C D. Making use of mantras, I might come to a particular word, beyond which I cannot go…e.g. in the mantra “”Be Still, and know, I am God”, I cannot recall the word “still”. I now use the word “steel”, and reduce that word to “stel” and then come to “still”.
I am puzzled why this happens.
Thank you and bless you all.

    Hi –
Hi, Thank you for this very interesting and informative talk.

I would be interested in hearing Dr Bredesen's views about the effect of alcohol on the brain and the correlation with the rise in dementia in women.

I have done much research into' foetal alcohol spectrum disorders' ie. the effect of alcohol on the developing brain of the foetus (caused when a mother drinks alcohol in pregnancy). Alcohol is a known toxin (ie we become ‘intoxicated') and kills brain cells causing many physical and neurological disabilities in the affected, developing child.

I am therefore wondering if he thinks that there is a connection between the higher rates of women experiencing dementia, which is correlating with the statistics that women are consuming more alcohol these days than men. Also, if he advises people to refrain from drinking alcohol as part of his protocol.

    Many Thanks

    This I can believe!
Following the protocols of exercise, low carb diet, detox, etc. sounds simple.
However, like all positive changes, it will take 100% commitment to succeed.
My mother and paternal grandmother both had dementia. It was so awful for them not being able to understand what was happening and for our family seeing them decline to such a helpless state.
I was not looking forward to developing this dreaded disease.

Wow! Listening to this is like me having an inner voice telling me it is what you need to add to your situation.

My wife was just diagnosed this past Thursday as serious dementia with beginning signs of Alzheimer's. This entire situation started right after 2013 when she finished chemo, for breast cancer. She had lost complete cognitivism right after the treatments. She spent from that time up to Sept. of this past year off and on in the treatment of speech therapy. With no real signs of improvement at all. She was diagnosed in 2019 with dementia rather than chemo-brain. That same year I came across the new findings by Dr. Michael Merzenich (Brain Secrets) which I have been presenting for the past 5 months at our local senior center. This presentation of yours completely falls directly in line with Dr. Merzenich's. It also is perfect timing because it falls in direct line with another program we are now presenting a documentary of the truth about cancer called (Global Quest). Which clearly shows cancer can be beaten without chemo or radiation by learning about proper nutrition from what we eat here on earth.

I have been a caregiver for my wife since this began and have not accepted all the negative medical philosophy that my wife neurologist are try ing to have us accept. My background is over 45 years in martial arts and have been teaching Qigong & Tai Chi for decades. I have seen proof that holistic methods do work and are the best way to find positive results for all our modalities in this country. And what we consider new research is actually old for the Far East has known about the power of proper nutrition for thousands of years. Thank you, Thank you so very much for your time and research findings. This is just what we have been looking for.

i don't want to accept that. my question for you is if it possible if the relatives (non medical specialized persons) can apply and help her to recover. is it possible to do by our own , even she is in that asylum where she has medication after the traditional medical way. thank you, Ioana

We all have to take responsibility for our own health. Now that we have this information and recognize that there will NEVER be a magic pill to cure Alzheimers disease, it is incumbent upon every human being on the planet to get on board with this thinking – not only will Alzheimers be prevented but relationships and marriages will be improved, and even crime will be impacted by improved societal functioning. There is nothing more important for the future of mankind and the survival of this planet.

My husband is in a nursing home – I wonder if it's possible to have a health coach in that facility? He had so many problems in the past and can see better now what started his decline 22 years ago, plus Late Onset Alzheimer's is in his DNA. Thank you so much for the insights.

What is preventing your findings from becoming more understood and adopted by the traditional medical community? Why is this still “unproven” in their minds. My mom has Alzheimer's and I've seen this first hand among several doctors.

  74. Kanelli November 11, 2022 at 10:53 am - Reply

How do you actually get your loved one to stay off the sugar or stay off the gluten. They just forget and revert back. I have tried for 4 years now to get my mom off and I just so much resistance and arguing. I run detox program and anti-inflammatory and gut cleanses and liver cleanse programs for women with hormone imbalances and I can't get my mom to change anything. She forgets. No neurologist or professional that I take her to says anything about the sugar and constant sugar consumption on her part and she lives alone.

Hi Kanelli thanks for joining us – I would encourage you to tune into Dr. Melissa Batchelor’s interview next Wednesday Nov 16th, she will be sharing a ton of helpful information for caregivers with elderly Alzheimer’s and dementia patients in care, and specifically discussing some eating and nutrition issues caregivers face. We cannot give specific medical advice but these interviews should certainly be helpful to start conversations with your doctors.

My mom is 95 yrs old with advance Alzheimers, would it be good to begin making these changes in her diet? I am her caregiver. Definitely something I can start for me and my husband.

Great start! Would you please provide the website reference mentioned at 35:54 in Dr. Bredesen's presentation. It sounded like “abelief4.info”, or “abelieffor.info”, but those didn't work.
It's important because this is supposed to be a site with encouraging success stories! Thanks for passing on that info.

Thank you for joining us Cheryl and sharing your story, I am glad you've found some encouraging news in this event. We're excited to have Dr. Sid O'Bryant from the University of North Texas joining us on Monday's episode (Nov 14) as he discusses his research into Alzheimer's in latino and African American populations as well, as we are learning how the disease can be influenced by genetic factors such as race and epigenetic factors such as environment.

Listening to the conversation left me wanting more detail. You both used terms that are not common knowledge which left holes in my understanding. Then Dr. Dale Bredesen suggested things that you could do to help yourself but he never went into detail or at least in terms that I could understand. You can tell me that they only way to get more detailed information about what he was talking about is to buy his book, then be straight forward and say so. Running around the bush is a waste of my time.
How do you get today*s doctors to do the testing that was constantly mentioned?
How do you know what active prevention is? Where is it written down so one can follow it?
A health counselor is new, profession, job, so how do you find one and know that they are really trained?
Will you be posting the ways to contact him?

I absolutely inhaled this session! I know that genetically I am at risk since one parent had vascular dementia and the other had Lewy Bodies. I wonder about the cultural aspect of health coaching. I am black (non Latin). I would love to adapt my diet to a healthier, plant-based one. Living w/a diabetic husb who is not invested in his health is so challenging. I would like to be able to breakthrough the challenges of being able to eliminate the fructose, unhealthy fats and carbs. It is hard to do this on my own w/o the support of my spouse who, if I don't cook it his way then he cooks it himself! Hard to stay motivated but I plan to try harder now after listening to Dr. Bedesden!!! Thank you so much for this series.

I did this protocol when first diagnosed at UCLA 3 years ago. I worked with ,at that time the only functional medicine doc available through St. Johns. I did the supplements, diet, and brand HQ exercises. I
ended up with an aversion to food and lost 30lbs.
I am now in South Carolina where there is 1 FM doc who is not working within this protocol. Online testing suggests I have lost short term memory. Any suggestions?
